Emergency services are at the scene of a two-vehicle collision on Awanui Place, Welcome Bay.

A police spokesperson says the crash occurred at around 2.20pm.

A St John spokesperson says they responded with two rapid response vehicles and four ambulances.

"Our ambulance crews assessed five patients at the scene, transporting one patient in a moderate condition and four patients in a minor condition to Tauranga Hospital."

"There are no reports of road blockages," says the police spokesperson.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
