Help support the health and well-being of people who are affected with arthritis by wearing an orange gerbera during Arthritis Appeal Week to bring hope to sufferers.

The Arthritis New Zealand National Annual Appeal begins today, Friday September 25 and focuses on the difficulties that many people with arthritis are faced with every day.
To show some of the struggles they encounter, Arthritis New Zealand is launching a new television ad campaign that will include celebrities wearing orange gloves with the catchphrase, ‘could you handle it?' This will help illustrate just how difficult it can be to use everyday objects when you have arthritis in your hands.
Arthritis is a painful and unpredictable disease that affects one-in-six New Zealanders over 15 years of age.
Collectors wearing orange will be present at various supermarkets and malls throughout appeal week ready to swap a lovely orange gerbera for a gold coin donation. All donations remain in the region they were collected from and go toward providing essential services for people with arthritis and their families.
Educators for Arthritis New Zealand provide information and advice, self-management training, education, practical support and advocacy.
Arthritis New Zealand is a not-for-profit organisation representing the interests of those affected by arthritis. Their main aim is to enable a better quality of life for those affected by the disease.
The Bay of Plenty Service Centre is holding a ‘Focus on Hands' seminar at 7pm on October 30 at the Historic Village Hall on 17th Avenue.
The annual appeal for Arthritis New Zealand began in 1983 to raise funds to run its community services.
