Paengaroa Primary School is having an auction to fundraise for a new swimming pool.

There will be many items up for auction, including a fun weekend package, a shirt signed by Mahe Drysdale and livestock.

Local businesses and artists also donated their wares and services for auction.

The school has been fundraising for a community pool for five years and hopes to have it up and running this year.

Emma Bragg, a PTA member who is helping to organise the auction, says the children are looking forward to the pool being finished.

'The kids are excited, especially the older ones that have been at the school as long as the project has been running,” says Emma.

'The parents and community are looking forward to having a community pool.”

The pool is nearly completed. They are just waiting on the finishing touches, like a vacuum system which costs $7000.

The fundraiser will be held at Paengaroa Community Hall on Friday October 12. Tickets cost $25 and are available from HRB Bakery and Gift-Rapt Te Puke.

The auction will also feature a performance by a comedy group from Auckland that do impromptu comedy.
