Totara Street road works postponed

Road works scheduled for Totara Street have been postponed until November.

The road works were due to start on Friday, September 29.

Tauranga City Council say that due to circumstances out of the council's control, the road works have been postponed until November.

The construction process will be on the "other side" of Totara Street. During the construction traffic will be reduced to one lane (open for travel between Mount Maunganui and Hewletts Rd).

Originally, due to the nature of the disruption, Tauranga City Council had chosen to do the work during the school holidays when there's less traffic on the roads.

"Because the construction process requires continuous work through two night and day shifts, it needs to be done over a weekend."

Council says fine weather is also essential for the new road surface to cure and harden, which takes up to three days.

"We will send an update once the new date has been confirmed closer to the time," says a council spokesperson.

I you've not drive on the new section it is the worst road I have ever driven on.
How could it be that bad ?
Were the workers high while doing it ?
I don't think a 2 year old could have done a worse job.
