Welcome Bay School is set to build community spirit brick by brick this weekend!

Tomorrow, Saturday, October 14, and Sunday, October 15, Bricks of Plenty will bring their eye-catching and intricate Lego displays to Welcome Bay School for an exciting Brick Show event.

Crowds can expect to see anything from Harry Potter, Star Wars and pirate-themed Lego displays, to entire Lego cities with a mix of houses and buildings.

The school students have also been creating their own displays, with winning creations featuring at the show. Welcome Bay School principal Jamie De La Haye says it’s great to hold events such as these. “It’s just nice to have a real community building event to raise a bit of money for the school but to also put on something for our whole community as well.”

Fundraising from the show will go towards purchasing new shade sails for the school, which can range anywhere from $15,000-$30,000, says Jamie. “Living in New Zealand we want to be sun-smart. It’s an important element to try add to our schools.”

The show will have a sausage sizzle, raffle, coffee cart and the school’s playgrounds for people to enjoy at the event. Jamie gives special thanks to Bricks of Plenty and the PTA for making this awesome event happen.

Welcome Bay School’s Brick Show fundraiser runs 10am-4pm both days this weekend. Tickets cost $5 per person, children aged under four gain free entry. Eftpos and cash available. Street parking available on Welcome Bay Rd, with additional parking on the field via Esmeralda St.
