Pair to appear in court following assault

Two youth are due to appear in court on Tuesday following an assault and shoplifting at Mount Maunganui.

Police received a report relating to a shoplifting incident followed by an assault at Central Parade on Wednesday, October 18.

“Police were called at 11.45am on 18 October,” says a police spokesperson.

“A 17-year-old has been charged with assault and a 15-year-old has been charged with assault and shoplifting.”

Police say the pair are scheduled to appear in Tauranga Youth Court on October 24.

These low lifes should be made to wash the floors and clean the toilets of the cycle owners shop !!! The very least they should do. What's the bet there's no punishment and they'll be off laughing.....

In the description of the assault and shoplifting described by Kris Snow in the Sun, there were "four youths with bikes." There were two miscreants who obviously did the assaulting and shoplifting, but then Kris describes a third was involved, so I assume that he and the fourth, who all left together, was aiding and abetting - yet only two will appear in court on Tuesday. I hope there is a good logical reason for the non-appearance of two.
