Update on Cameron Road construction

The Tauranga City Council road works team is in the process of resurfacing several sections of Cameron Road.

"Because resurfacing is one of the activities that is affected by wet weather, we are planning to prepare the road surface approximately two weeks ahead of scheduled asphalting,” says a council spokesperson.

“This involves milling the road - scraping off a layer of the road surface - in several sections in advance, so we can move through faster when asphalting the final layer.”

The council says this will mean that some sections of road will appear partially complete for longer than usual.

“There will be lane closures and some diversions around these works.”

Eleventh Avenue intersection

Work is about to change at the Eleventh Avenue intersection, where the road works team is currently working on the north and south centre medians installing new traffic signal poles and kerbs.

Council says this work will be complete in the coming week, weather dependent.

From 6pm Sunday, October 22, the team will be moving over to work on the south-east, at The Flooring Room corner of the intersection.

There will be a left lane closure around this corner of the intersection until 6pm Sunday, October 29, when the eastern side of this intersection - heading towards Memorial Park -  will fully close for three weeks, weather dependent, for work on the streetscape and stormwater upgrades.

Pedestrian access to businesses will remain, however there will be some car parking reduced during these works.

Southbound traffic will be able to access Eleventh Avenue east via Tenth Avenue east and Norris Street.

Northbound traffic will be able to access Eleventh Avenue east via Thirteenth Avenue east and Devonport Road.
“We thank you for your patience and understanding while these essential upgrades are underway.” You can check here for travel updates. We also recommend checking Google Maps or Waka Kotahi NZTA Journey Planner.
