Police say a pedestrian has died at the scene of a single-vehicle crash in Te Awamutu today.

Police responded to the crash on Alexandra Street around 10.45am.

"Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing," says a police spokesperson.

The road remains blocked, and diversions are in place. 

"Police understand this was a distressing crash to witness.
