24-hour fitness fundraiser for teen mental health

A group of people are about to embark on 24 hours of fitness for youth mental health.

Fit Nation Gym a community-focused and orientated business is inviting people to join the fundraising event this weekend.

“We discovered that working out is a good way to get through those life-challenging moments, says one of the Fit Nation Gym owners Clayton Mitchell.

"Over the last 12 months, we have organised some fundraisings to help our community, now is time for our youth to receive that support."

At the moment, 15 teams of five people each have been registered to enjoy all the activities Fit Nation Gym has prepared for this Saturday, October 28, says Clayton.

“Food trucks, ice baths, saunas, DJs, ultimate athlete obstacle course, and the Rugby World Cup final all in 24 Hours. We are inviting all the people from our community, not membership required just the desire to help.”

According to Clayton, all the money from the fundraising will go to the Graeme Dingle Foundation, which works with New Zealand’s Tamariki and Rangatahi at different life stages.

“We have some mentoring and coaching programmes at the gym through the Graeme Dingle Foundation and that is why we want to do this event, because we know the fantastic job they do supporting and looking after young people in our community, and this is our way to keep doing more for kids and teenagers who are facing difficult situations on their lives.”

“Our goal is to raise $40,000 and with the active participation of our community, we know we can make it.”

The 24-hour fitness fundraising will start this Saturday at 3pm in Fit Nation Gym at 150 Newton St, Tauranga.
