Tauranga City Council is replacing an aging sewage pipeline under Rata Street, Mount Maunganui.
"Unfortunately, installation of the new pipeline has been delayed by one week due to unforeseen contractor issues," says an updated stated from the council.
From Monday, October 30, to Friday, 3 November 3, traffic will not be able to access Rata Street from Maunganui Road and the Rata Street/Totara Street intersection will be closed.-Access to Port vehicles and Rata Street residents will be maintained via stop/go traffic management.
-A detour will be available via Puriri Street.
-Parking on the northern side of Rata Street remains closed, and parking is reduced on Nikau Crescent.
-Access to Nikau Crescent from the Rata Street/Nikau Crescent intersection remains closed. A detour via Walls Lane is available for residents and vehicles needing to access Nikau Crescent.

"We recommend allowing extra time for your travel as delays are expected," says a council spokesperson
"We aim to give as much notice of lanes closures as possible, however works can be subject to change at short notice due to unforeseen project challenges, contractor availability, and bad weather.
"Our contractors are working hard to minimise the impact of this delay, and we would like to thank the community for their patience as we carry out this important work."
The project is expected to be complete by mid-November 2023.

Could we please just wait until a few other roadworks projects are finished.
Seriously I have roadworks fatigue. I didn't know such a condition existed, but I've definitely got it.
What, we need more delays
