Emergency services are responding to a vehicle crash near the intersection of State Highway 1 and State Highway 29.

Police say the crash on SH 29 near Karapiro involves two trucks.

"One lane is blocked and there are delays in the area, including at the intersection of SH29 and SH1," says a police spokesperson.

"Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible and use an alternative route."

A SunLive reader at the scene says the crash is between the Piarere Hall and the intersection.

It is unknown at this stage if there are any injuries.
