Mixed results for Bay basketballers

Tauranga's young basketball players had mixed results during the Under-13 National Championships at the TECT Arena at Baypark today.

The tournament hosted by Basketball New Zealand has been running since October 8 and will peak tomorrow with successful teams battling for the number one spot.


The Tauranga City A missed out on beating the Wellington Black team.

This morning the boys' Tauranga City A team took on the Wellington Black team.

After losing 78 – 50, the local team will now play for a 15th or 16th place.

The girls' Tauranga team emerged victorious, beating the Palmerston North Green team 68 – 41.

They will now play for either 13th or 14th place.

The girls' final will take place at 2.15pm on Friday, with the boys' final following at 4pm.
