Motorists travelling from Bethlehem to central Tauranga are being advised to expect delays on Sunday with a section of State Highway 2 being closed for a stormwater upgrade. A detour will be in place.
Council contractors will be working along SH2, from the Bethlehem Road and Moffat Road intersection to Cambridge Road, upgrading the stormwater system along the highway.
The SH2 city-bound lane will be closed, but the SH2 Bethlehem-bound lane will be open, enabling motorists to travel as usual from Tauranga city to Bethlehem.
These closures will occur overnight on Sunday, November 12, and Friday, December 1, between 8pm and 6am.
“A marked detour will be in place via Bethlehem Road, Carmichael Road, Millers Road, Otūmoetai Road, Cambridge Road, SH2 with a minor delay to your journey,” says a Tauranga City Council spokesperson.
During the work, a shoulder closure on SH2 citybound will be in place near the Waihi Road off-ramp with a 30km per hour speed reduction.
“We appreciate your patience as we improve our stormwater management in the Bethlehem area.”
