A Give a Little page has been set up with the hope of helping a Tauranga woman during her recovery after a motorcycle accident.
Hope Pearce is a Tauranga resident, a beloved mother of four kids and passionate about motorcycles.
She and her mates went out for a ride the past long Monday, October 23, but her mind never crossed the idea that her life would take a 180-degree turn.
The group were riding on SH5, heading out towards Tirau on their way back home, says GC motorcycle social club member, Russ Kenny.
“It was an awesome day of cruising the coast to Matata, riding around the back of the Rotoma/Rotoehu/Rotoiti lakes into Rotorua. We were ready to come back when she lost control of her motorcycle.”
A broken femur, some ribs broken, abrasions on her liver and kidney, the spleen removed and bruises on her body, were the outcome of the accident kept Hope one week to the hospital for surgeries. Recovering from these injuries will have her for at home a while.
Three to four months to recovery is the estimated time the doctors have given her, says Russ.
“As a mother of four teenagers, and now unable to work for an undetermined time, finances will become very tight for Hope and her family.
“We at the GC Social Club have created a page so we can maybe offer some financial support to help ease the burdens of Rent, Food, and utilities this family will experience over the next few months.”
We have known her for a couple of years now, says Russ.
“She is an amazingly inspirational woman, never hesitates to help anyone out, her positivity towards any situation is second to none, she is a great friend to those around her.”
According to Russ, the road surface was the cause of her accident.
“Police are still investigating to find the cause of the crash, the most important thing now is helping Hope to recover.”
