Bay of Plenty residents are invited to shed their clothes and their stresses this Labour Weekend in an effort to raise awareness of naturism.
The Bay of Plenty Sun Club is holding open days in Matata on October 20 and 21 in the hopes of gaining new members and promoting their club's benefits.
Naturists Glenne Findon and her partner Colin Basike.
The open days are part of the annual Go Natural Week which sees naturist clubs and associations around New Zealand show off the stress relieving freedom nude recreation brings.
BOP Sun Club president Rob says naturism is 'just a lifestyle that we enjoy”.
'It's good for bringing up families and for social activities and sporting activities.”
Further reported benefits of naturism include sun exposure and increased vitamin D, as well as an increase in self-esteem and mental health.
Rob says Go Natural Week is important for the club as it is a great way to gain new members.
The club, formed in 1966, takes part in Go Natural Week every year. On Saturday they will also share a BYO BBQ dinner with salads at 6.00pm.
Go Natural Week is run by the New Zealand Naturist Federation. Spokeswoman Donna Miller says there is no obligation for visitors to get undressed.
Go Natural Week runs from October 20 – 28. For more information phone Rob on 027 440 5157 or email [email protected].

I would if we could send the occupants of TCC to this event, it is about time the covers were removed from that lot!

good one Termite. Also watch the protesters flock to the venue and cause havoc. good on them
exhibitionists.
Posted on 12-10-2012 13:14 | By sojourner
Wherever do they get the idea that this exhibitionism is good for family. It isn't and never will be. It is perverted behavior and wrong to expose children to it, especially ones own. Cripes, lock 'em up and throw away the key.
I tend to agree

Sojourner......i agree with you totally....i couldnt think of anything worse that seeing my oldies in the nude....omg that would have to scare some poor child for life. No child should be exposed to it and if they are then yes i class this as perverted also. I have no problem with nudity, but do it in your own home....the majority of us really dont want to see what you had for breakfast.
Lewd behaviour?
Posted on 12-10-2012 15:06 | By pomfart
Surely this is an offence? If I wandered round town on a Saturday night with the old fella on show I'd get arrested. What's the difference? Children's eyes may be subjected to these two. Scarred for life. Glenn's baloons seem to have lost some air. Yuck.
Its a club people
Posted on 12-10-2012 15:36 | By dave4u
But I guess you would rather go to a club serving booze bad language and fights etc lets condemn them like smokers because the police are always getting called to naturist clubs YEA RITE grow up or go play in your sandpit.

It's good for bringing up your lunch I don't know about families all those saggy wrinkly bits YUCK........
Grow up Dave?
Posted on 12-10-2012 16:27 | By pomfart
I don't understand your first point Dave as you seem to have trouble forming sentences. Do what you like in your own club but don't subject others to your gross behaviour. Small children wander around in the buff so perhaps it's you lot that need to grow up instead of being little attention seekers.
Ahhhh Now I understand

Naturism is a way of life in harmony with nature, characterized by the practice of communal nudity, with the intention of encouraging respect for oneself, respect for others and for the environment. google "naturistmingle" it is the best choice for you! It offers a friendly and confidential environment for nudists to look for friendships, relationships, and resources concerning the nudist lifestyle.
I love being nude!

Yep i would rather go to club with booze and bad laguage actually, better than watching a bunch of pervs standing around comparing lunch and I think the police would be most interested In "this club" if there are naked adults around young children........
Prudes get a life
Posted on 12-10-2012 18:18 | By AllisonA
You prudes need to get a life. Get out and live life before it is over. Our three girls loved growing up at this club and are much better people for it. Now they are starting to have kids I hope they carry on the life still that made them humble, caring, loving people that this country is short of these days.
Termite, I am concerned

This story has no refernce to the TCC. Why would you bring them into it? It seems you have an unhealthy obsession with them. See if you can hold back from commenting about them for a week, I will be watching. Good luck to the club, and I hope that the weather is fine. Prudes, stay home.
Disgusted

Some of the comments on here are appalling!! It shows a clear lack of understanding regarding naturism, the law and acceptance of a different view on life from that of your own. Pomfart, your comment regarding Glenn's breasts are simply disgusting and completely unaccetable. How dare you comment about that. I bet you have imperfections that we could pass judgement on..if only your had the courage to shed your clothes. But we wouldn't of course. Naturists DO NOT JUDGE peoples bodies. We are just the same as anyone one of your who have posted negitives views. We have feelings too. We are not sub-human! Its very easy to be critical of something you don't understand. Dave4u To be brutely honest mate...your an idiot. Your comment suggests adults and children naked in the same place is illegal. Mate, if your suggesting we are paedophiles? I challenge your to actually say it. I would have much pleasure in seeing you defend your claim in my slander case against you! Do some research before you decide to print your completely ignorant claims in a public forum. In fact I challenge every single poster of a negitive comment to go to the open days and see for yourselves just how misplaced your views are. It may not chage your view about being naked on a beach , but it may mean your education regarding naturism is enhanced and your fear of the lifestyle is dramtically reduced. You will be surprised just how far from your current opinion, reality actually is.
Negative half-wit comments

Have you found out yet what's wrong with you? How you became so insecure with nature, with the human body? Have you analysed why you deride others who have different attitudes than your intolerant, narrow-minded and truly insular mind-set? Are you so insecure that you have to stoop to smutty sophomoric inferences, putting others down with ad hominem attacks? Have you got no factual, logical and reasoning points to make? Ask yourself why you obviously haven't grown out of immature smugness and developed into a tolerant broad-minded fellow being. These naturists do nothing to you because they want to have nothing to do with parochial prodigies like you. Grow up, get a life and accept others as they are, and not as YOU want them to be. 'Blessed are the poor in cognizance for they don't know what they're missing.”-Leonard Nimoy-

You shouldn't go around calling people idiots when you cannot spell. When referring to someone as in, "you are" it is abbreviated to "you're". You like to use the word "your" which would be used when referring to an object belonging to someone. In my opinion that makes you the idiot.
So very sorry
Posted on 13-10-2012 16:15 | By Blair_NZ
Mr Webster Collins Oxford. I'm just a big dummy naturist after all! Now, if only your understanding of Law was as good as your spelling...which its not by the way, because if your wish to get picky..balloons has 2 L's in it. My comment to you was in reference to your unnecessary attack on Glenne's physical appearance, not on whether this was a spelling competition. You could have got your opinion across without having to resort to petty schoolyard bullying.
who cares?
Posted on 13-10-2012 21:38 | By monty111
Let them get on with it. Only why promote it in the way they have done. Every one to their own thing but don't try to shove it in peoples faces! Just do it and shut up.
Wonderful Experience
Posted on 14-10-2012 02:25 | By Lamdba
If you go, you'll have a really relaxing time, and meet the nicest people - at least that's my experience. If you're looking for an orgy, though, you're going to be really disappointed. In fact, if someone makes you feel uncomfortable, just say something to the staff and they'll take care of it right away.
LOL

Posted on 15-10-2012 13:41 | By traceybjammet
each to their own not my thing but then that doesnt make it wrong and please dont lump them in with paedophiles and perverts, we should watch out for drunks, drug addicts and scoutmasters if you want to start using labels. As long as they are polite and respectful of each other and the general public why shouldnt they do what they want, I would think there is more trouble down the Strand on a friday night
nudists
