People who typically use State Highway 2 to get to Bethlehem from Tauranga are being warned to prepare for a detour tonight.
For the last three weeks, Tauranga City Council has been replacing the concrete barrier on the eastbound shoulder between Bethlehem Road and Waihī Road with guardrail.
This work is part of the Beaumaris Boulevard flood mitigation works.
A further single night closure to remove the temporary barriers is planned for tonight.
