With a growing number of people living near the Tara Road and Parton Road roundabout, as well as an increasing number of shops in the area, existing issues around speed and people crossing the road on foot or by bike are growing, says Tauranga City Council.
"To create a calmer, safer environment for everyone, new signalled crossings are being installed along all roads entering the roundabout," says an update from the council.
"Work started late October and is expected to be completed by Christmas 2023. To ensure we keep on track despite the rain, we continue to make adjustments in the order and timing of work.
"Digital signs in the area will keep you posted on what's planned next.
"With a slight delay, the crew has now completed the raised crossings at Tara Road and Te Okuroa Drive. Nightworks will now move to Parton Road North and South, to construct the crossings on both sides there."
Night closures Parton Road North and South - from Sunday, December 10
Night closures will continue to be required this week, starting Sunday, December 10, for three nights (depending on the weather).
Suggested alternative routes in and out of Pāpāmoa are signposted as shown on the map below.
This work is weather dependent and could be postponed as a result of rain

Why?

Why do cyclists need a special crossing. From their riding on Cameron Road they've proved they don't even need their own cycle lane. They're a law unto themselves and don't give a toss about other Road users. Quit pandering to them, they're far from elite.
Safer , calmer

The new key words used to create congestion and then we can charge everyone congestion fees.
The start CON-gestion tells you it all. Have you see the Buerta road about with no less that three raised crossings.
What an abomination, you shall NOT PASS. YELLS TOLLEY
