New Zealand Red Cross has launched its Here For Good online auction – giving everyone the chance to help communities both at home and around the world by bidding on exciting items and experiences this holiday season.

Launched through Trade Me last week, all listings start on a $1 reserve.  They include a Family Fun Day in Tauranga at Waimarino Water and Adventure Park.

A collection of items were added to the auction from Friday, with all the auctions scheduled to finish on December 14.

More than $20,000 worth of amazing items and incredible experiences donated by businesses across the country are up for auction.

All proceeds from the auctions go towards supporting people in need both in New Zealand and overseas.

New Zealand Red Cross General Manager Engagement and Enterprise Shane Chisholm says the need for humanitarian support has been enormous this year.

For the July 2022 to June 2023 year, New Zealand Red Cross:
• Responded to 15 domestic emergencies
• Delivered nearly 710,000 Meals on Wheels meals across 43 New Zealand locations
• Provided more than 20,000 hours of volunteered time from our Disaster Welfare and
Support Team members to help communities prepare for, respond to and recover from
emergencies
• Welcomed 880 new arrivals from 23 different countries to Aotearoa New Zealand
• Contributed to local community resilience through over 105,000 hours of local volunteer
service

“The people of Aotearoa New Zealand have dug deep to support each other throughout the year, and as the holiday season approaches our work continues every day in vulnerable communities across the country and globe,” says Shane.

“The Here For Good online auction is an opportunity for everyone to make a real difference for people in need by bidding on a great auction item.”
