Peterson selected for Oz match

Current Bay of Plenty women's representative cricket player Anna Peterson will continue her international career this season after being selected for the 2012 New Zealand Women's Emerging Players team.

Anna, who was selected for the White Ferns against England last season, will be part of the New Zealand side to travel to New South Wales on November 11 to play the Australian Shooting Stars in four one-day games at the Blacktown Oval, Sydney.

Bay of Plenty representative cricket player Anna Peterson will be part of the NZ team to play Australia in November.

Anna joined home grown Bay of Plenty Black Caps Mathew and Robbie Hart along with Daniel Flynn, Graeme Aldridge, Kane Williamson and Trent Boult, in attaining national honours by way of the Bay of Plenty Cricket pathway, when she was selected for the White Ferns earlier this year.

Like most serious sportspeople, Anna's success is the result of hard work, dedication and commitment.

Peterson's cricket journey started as a five year old at the Takapuna Cricket Club.

After a family move to Tauranga, and junior cricket with the Mount Maunganui Club, Anna's representative career took off. Representative selection in BOP and ND under-14 teams was followed by selection in BOP and ND Secondary School sides.

Year 12 at Aquinas College, brought elevation to the ND Women's Development team, with the talented all rounder breaking into the Northern Spirit the following year.

Anna has become an integral member of the Northern Spirit in recent seasons, while she still enjoys playing for the Bay when other cricket commitments allow.

She has cemented her place as one of the Northern Spirit stalwarts in the last few seasons and is an attacking batswoman of real ability.

A highest NZ Cricket women's competition top score of 84 suggests that Anna is on the cusp of a long international career.
