The sun is out and so is the amazing produce at the Waihi Beach Saturday Farmers Market at the Waihi Beach School from 8am - 12pm. Real fruit ice-cream, ice- cold kombucha and freshly squeezed orange juice is waiting to cool you down. There is also live music by Alice May, berries, organic or spray free fresh salad ingredients and even corn available at this weekend's market.

The Katikati Avocado Food and Wine Festival is happening today Saturday, January 13 at the beautiful leafy Uretara Domain, Katikati from noon til 6pm. The festival, which is featuring The Black Seeds performing, promises great food, the best of beverages, live music, summer vibes, kitchen demonstrations, children's entertainment and so much more. Come and watch country meet town. Come and see some of the top shearers of New Zealand shear a sheep really quick today at the Te Puna Speed Shear at The Point Ale House, Whakamarama. This is a fundraising event with the money raised going back into the community. Entry is gold coin, with spot prizes, raffles, a chiller – donated by Spencer Contractors – to be sold on the night. Mishra

UK global-folk duo Mishra are weaving a tight web of intricate, Indian-influenced original music that defies definition at the Jam Factory this evening from 7pm. With Kate Griffin on vocals, banjo, and dobro, and Ford Collier on low whistle, calabash/percussion, they draw on their unique base of influences that encompasses folk music of the UK and America, Indian classical music, and soul to create a surprisingly accessible sound.
