Head along to Classic Flyers in Jean Batten Drive, Mount Maunganui for the Classic Flyers Aero Day. Gates open 10.00am.
 
Bring the kids for formation displays, joy rides, car clubs displays, hot dogs and more. Under fives are free, adults $20, children $10, and family $60 for two adults and up to three children. Gate Sales are available (Eftpos & Cash) with loads of free parking.

Mount Festival of Multisport

Athletes from all over the country and beyond are competing in the iconic Mount Festival of Multisport today. Several road closures will be in place and the Pilot Bay Boat Ramp will be closed for most of the day.

The Tauranga Eastern Link Toll Road eastbound lanes between Domain Road and Paengaroa will be closed for the cycle leg of the event from 5.30am to 1pm. The alternative route for people driving eastbound during this time will be via Te Puke Highway. Westbound lanes will remain open under usual operation.

Significant congestion and delays of up to 30 minutes this morning are likely, particularly in Pāpāmoa around Parton and Tara Roads as cyclists link up with the Tauranga Eastern Link leg of the event between 7.45am and 11.45am.

The Self Righteous Brothers are back, at Jack Dusty's Ale House from 2pm - 5pm. Derek and Nigel are back with an eclectic selection of blues, country, folk, jazz and anything else that takes their fancy. Expect stripped-back takes on Kokomo tunes, a few Bob Dylan/Guy Clark/John Prine songs, some old Delta blues and early ragtime, all with harmonies, some groovy upright bass and a dash of slick and sparkling acoustic guitar.

Hot Springs Spas T20 Backclash

Cricket enthusiasts and sports fans alike can witness top cricketing talent and rugby personalities engage in a fun T20 match at the iconic Bay Oval.

Now in its sixth year, the Black Clash is an annual summer cricket match where two sides – usually made up of former top-level sportspeople from rugby and cricket, take to the field in the name of fun. Team Cricket have won three of the past encounters with Team Rugby securing victory twice.

This year’s match takes place at 4.30pm, today, Saturday, January 20 at Bay Oval, Tauranga. Kieran Read will captain Team Rugby and Daniel Vettori will be the skipper for Team Cricket.
