Police are investigating a fatal crash in the Western Bay of Plenty.

In a statement released this morning, police have confirmed that a person has died following a crash on Pukehina Beach Road, Pukehina.

"Emergency services attended the crash involving a single vehicle reported shortly at around 9.20pm on Sunday, January 21," says a police spokesperson.

"Sadly, one person died.

"Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing."

Anyone with information about the crash can contact their nearest police station.

Non-emergency information can be called into the police's 105 number.

The crash happened on Pukehina Beach Road on Sunday night.
