Update, 5pm: State Highway 25 in Thames has re-opened following a crash involving a car and a motorcycle, reported at 11.55am.
One person was transported to Waikato Hospital in a critical condition.
Police wish to thank motorists for their patience while the road was closed.
Update, 1pm: Northbound traffic on State Highway 25 is being turned back at Kopu and southbound traffic is being turned back in Thames, following a serious crash involving a car and a motorcycle on SH25 near Banks Street, reported at 11.55am.
One person is reported to be in a critical condition.
The Serious Crash Unit is in attendance.
The road is expected to be closed for several hours, motorists are advised to avoid the area and expect delays.
Earlier, 12.48pm: Emergency services are responding to the scene of a serious crash on State Highway 25.
The crash has occurred on SH25 between Kopu and Thames.
"Due to a serious crash, SH25 is now closed between Mackay St and Maramarahi Rd, in Thames," says an NZTA Waka Kotahi spokesperson. "Delay your journey and expect delays."
Police say that SH25, Banks Street in Thames is closed while emergency services respond to a crash involving a car and a motorcycle, reported at 11.55am.
"Injuries are reported," says a police spokesperson.
"Motorists are advised to avoid the area and expect delays for some time."
Motorists can also take an alternative route.
For northbound traffic, take SH25, SH26, SH25A, and SH25. Southbound in reverse for light vehicles.
