Greerton edge out Tauranga

The Baywide Cup catch-up game played on Monday between Tauranga Boys College and Eves Realty Greerton was a low scoring encounter where the advantage changed several times during the game.

Batting first at home at Nicholson Field, Tauranga Boys opening batsman Tom MacRury anchored his team effort with a solid 38 runs.

However, batsmen came and went at the other end before Henry Conway batting at nine arrived at the crease.

Better known for his bowling skills, Conway dug in to post 24 runs as Tauranga Boys were dismissed for just 114 on the artificial surface.

Former Tauranga Boys bowler Tommy Clout was in good form with the ball taking four wickets for 26, with long time Greerton bowler Murray Jarvis grabbing three wickets.

Greerton also struggled with their opponents bowling and were in early trouble, before Cameron Neal strode to the crease.

Neal, who is another to travel the Tauranga Boys College pathway before joining Greerton, dug deep to score a gritty 28 which anchored his side's four wicket victory.

The best of the Tauranga boys bowling attack were Henry Conway and Mark Orchard who took two wickets apiece.
