SH26, Paeroa to Te Aroha reopens following crash

Update, 9.10pm: State Highway 26, between Paeroa and Tirohia has reopened following an earlier serious crash.

The crash was around 4.35pm and one person is in a critical condition. 

Traffic management has been in place in the area and the Serious Crash Unit has been advised. 

NZTA Waka Kotahi report that SH26 has now been reopened.

6pm Update: Emergency services are responding to a serious crash on State Highway 26, Tirohia involving two vehicles. 

The crash was around 4.35pm and one person is in a critical condition. 

Traffic management is in place in the area and the Serious Crash Unit has been advised. 

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible. 

Earlier, 5.08pm: Emergency services are responding to the scene of a serious vehicle crash on State Highway 26 in the Waikato.

SH26 between Paeroa and Te Aroha is closed in both directions.

"State Highway 26 is closed between SH2 and Rawhiti Rd due to a serious crash," says an NZTA Waka Kotahi spokesperson.

Motorist are advised to avoid the area and to expect delays.

"Follow the directions of emergency services at the scene."
