Emergency services are responding to the scene of a vehicle fire on State Highway 29A at the Hairini roundabout.
A SunLive reader reports that a car is in flames in a lane about 30 metres south of the Welcome Bay/Hairini intersection towards Tauriko.
"An ambulance is arriving. I can't see anyone in the car. It's completely engulfed in flames," says the SunLive reader.
Another SunLive reader says "it happened a minute before I arrived there".
"The engine was on fire. There are plumes of smoke, just heaps of smoke going up."
A fire truck from Greerton is attending the scene.
It is unknown at this stage if there are any injuries.
Traffic is reported to be still moving through the intersection.
"Due to a car fire before Welcome Bay Rd, eastbound lanes are blocked. Expect delays," says an NZTA Waka Kotahi spokesperson.
Motorists are advised to take care in the area or take a different route.
