A crash is reportedly blocking State Highway 29.

NZTA reports that due to a crash on SH29, lanes are blocked in both directions between McLaren Falls Road and Ngamuwahine Road.

"Caution is advised along the route. Expect delays."

A police spokesperson says a cherry picker trailer has become detached from the van that was towing it, reported just before 7pm, on SH29 near McLaren Falls Rd.

"It appears one lane is partially blocked, traffic management are on scene directing traffic until the lane is cleared."

Motorists are advised to follow the directions of emergency services.
