Unexpected Eversham Road pipe discovered

The discovery of a shallow pipe means more time is needed to complete a roading improvement project in Arataki.

The improvements are underway now and should be complete by mid-April, a slight extension due to the discovery of a shallow sewage pipe near the accessway to Inverell Place requiring replacement, says a council spokesperson.

"This unexpected work will mean access through the alleyway to Inverell Place may be restricted or closed over the next couple of weeks while the pipeline is lowered.

"With the wastewater system upgrade completed, testing of the pipeline and manholes will commence this week."

Tauranga City Council contractors are improving the condition of Eversham Road near Eversham Road Reserve by replacing sewer pipes and reconstructing drainage to reduce surface flooding.

To expedite the project, the road is closed to through traffic from Eversham Road Reserve to Ernie Way, and will remain closed throughout the duration of works.

Residents will continue to have footpath and vehicle access to their property from at least one end of Eversham Road unless communicated with specifically.

Through access for pedestrians and cyclists in the closed portion of Eversham Road is unavailable throughout the work.

The Te Maunga Lane alleyway and the Inverell Place alleyway will also both remain closed.

"We apologise for any inconvenience while we undertake these essential works," says a council spokesperson.
