Sharing music skills

Former Tauranga singer/songwriter Chanelle Davis will next week return to her home town to help Bay of Plenty Polytechnic music students develop their craft during New Zealand Music Month.
As well as guest-tutoring at the polytechnic, the 26-year-old is also helping American music professor Pat Pattison present a songwriting workshop at Tauranga Boys' College on Tuesday May 13.

Pat is a Professor at Berklee College of Music and is well known in the music scene, having taught and mentored some of the biggest names in the industry, including Grammy Award winner John Mayer. His visit to Tauranga is part of a nationwide tour.
Chanelle met Pat during a songwriting seminar a year ago and spent three months studying with him at Berklee.
'I cannot begin to describe what an incredible learning experience it was for me. And now, I can give others the chance to share what I have learned,” says Chanelle.
'I'm so excited to be back here and able to bring this kind of knowledge home – helping emerging young talent create great songs. There is a lot of talent in the Bay and it's fantastic to be a part of fostering that.”
Chanelle will tour the North Island in July.
For further information on Chanelle and Pat's visit, contact Bay of Plenty Polytechnic programme coordinator Lynda Wing. Lynda is also organising visits from other music industry talent during NZ Music Month to benefit Bay music teachers and students.
