Boys lose Gillette Cup semi

The Gillette Cup playoff between Tauranga Boys' College and St Peters yesterday turned into a low scoring affair that saw eighteen wickets taken in the encounter.

Tauranga Boys batted first on their home turf at Nicholson field and were removed for what looked to be a very modest 108.

Batsman Ben Musgrave slashes a wide delivery from bowler Jono Whitley while wicketkeeper Tim Seifert and slip Matthew Joubert wait ready for a catch.

Tauranga Boys' first eleven new recruit Nathan Aldersley top scored with 27 with Tom MacRury also reaching the twenties.

St Peters bowler Jono Whitley did the damage with the ball taking four wickets.

Defence of the modest total began with the Tauranga Boys' College bowlers showing real enthusiasm.

The game went down to the wire with St Peters claiming the victory with just two wickets to spare.

Henry Conway troubled all the visiting batsmen, finishing with the excellent bowling figures of four wickets at a cost of just 21 runs.
