Roading contractors are putting the final touches on the new bridge at Cambridge Road in Tauragna.
This means the road, which sits between Bethlehem and Tauriko, will open to traffic later this month.
Transport Minister Simeon Brown says this marks a significant milestone in the 6.8km Takitimu North Link expressway project.
He says this is one of eight bridge structures on the project, with the first three nearing completion, which is excellent progress.
In an update post on Facebook, New Zealand Transport Agency Waka Kotahi provides aerial images showing the the road's progress.
"As you can see in these new photos, we're completing the approaches to the bridge in preparation for the final road seal, line marking, and street lighting to be installed," the post reads.
"Thanks again to our neighbours for your support while we've been doing this work.
"The team has finished some complex work to tie-in the new bridge thanks to the closure of a section of Cambridge Road since January this year."
