SH30 reopens following two-vehicle crash

Update, 10.38am: Following an earlier crash east of Lake Rotokawau Rd, State Highway 30 is now open again between SH34 - Rotoma and SH33 - Tikitere.

Earlier, due to a crash, State Highway 30 east of Lake Rotokawau Road, was blocked in both directions.

Police responded to a two-vehicle crash involving a truck on SH30, around 5.20am.

One person has been taken to hospital in a moderate to serious condition.

Motorists were advised to delay travel until a lane could be reopened, or to consider an alternative route.

SH30 has now been reopened.

Update: 7.30am

"Due to a crash east of Lake Rotokawau Rd, SH30 is closed between SH34 (Rotoma) and SH33 (Tikitere).

"Delay your journey or consider using alterative route," says NTZA Waka Kotahi.

"Police responded to a two vehicle crash involving a truck on State Highway 30, Tikitere, Rotorua around 5:20am," says a police spokesperson.

"It appears one person has been transported to hospital in a moderate to serious condition.

"The road is blocked while a tow truck is enroute."

Earlier, 7.20am:

"A crash has been reported to emergency services in this area on SH30 east of Lake Rotokawau Rd," says NZTA Waka Kotahi.

"Delays are possible. Diversions may be required. An update will be provided as soon as more information is available."
