One person is in a serious condition and another has moderate injuries after a car flipped on a Tauranga expressway on Wednesday morning.

A SunLive reader says a vehicle is on its roof on the "expressway near the Cambridge Road exit to 15th Ave".

They say the Cambridge Road on-ramp is blocked and a car is on its roof.

A police spokesperson says one person is reported to have serious injuries and one person has moderate injuries.

"One lane is open and a tow truck has been requested."

Google's Live Traffic Reporting shows traffic is stalled on the expressway heading towards Tauranga.

NZTA says the crash is blocking the eastbound lanes of SH2 and diversions may be required.

People are advised to expect delays in their travels.
