Rotorua Boys High School won their second consecutive Under 19 championship title, at the BOPRU Secondary Schools 7's tournament played at the Paengaroa Domain on Thursday.

In what was a particularly hard fought final stanza Rotorua Boys triumphed over Tauranga Boys College 19-12.

Rotorua Girls High School went into the Under 19 Girls final against Opotiki College, needing to win by 11 points (or better) to clinch the championship trophy.

Earlier in the day Opotiki had beaten the Rotorua School 17-12.

The last game belonged to Rotorua Girls team who went on to post a 34 nil victory.

A boys double came when their Under 15 team defeated arch-rivals Tauranga Boys in the championship decider, with the Rotorua team winning 36-14.

This was also the Rotorua Boys Under 15 side's second successive title.

The two Plate titles were shared around, with Bethlehem College beating John Paul College 35 nil in the Under 19 grade - and Te Puke High School getting past Reporoa College in the Under 15 division in a hard fought encounter posting a 17-12 victory.
