The Hikuai River Bridge will be closed overnight next week to allow for the installation of capping beams.
"The Hikuai River Bridge will be closed overnight from Sunday, May 19 to Friday,May 24 from 8pm to 6am each night," says an NZTA Waka Kotahi spokesperson.
"It will be open during the day under a 30km/h temporary speed restriction.
"The contingency dates are Sunday, May 26, through to Friday, June 7, 2024.
The road will be opened at defined intervals, with an alternative detour route available via State Highway 25 and State Highway 25A.
