SH36 near Ngongotaha reopens following crash

Update, 5.25pm:  Ngongotaha Road/ SH36 has reopened following a crash involving a car and a pedestrian around 1.50pm on Saturday.

One person has been transported to hospital in a serious condition.

Police say enquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.

Earlier, 2.20pm: Emergency services are responding to a one vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on Ngongotaha Road/ State Highway 36 near Taui Street, in Ngongotaha, Rotorua.

"The crash was reported around 1.50pm," says a police spokesperson.

"One person is in a critical condition."

NZTA Waka Kotahi advise that SH36 is closed at Ngongotaha.

The Serious Crash Unit has been advised.

The road is blocked until further notice.

Diversions are in place at the intersections of Ngongotaha Road, Western Road and Hood Street. 

Northbound traffic turn left on Western Rd, right on School Rd, right on Hood St then left on SH36, Southbound traffic in reverse.
