Police are continuing to investigate a crash in the Western Bay of Plenty which left a child in serious in condition.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Emeny Road and Plummers Point Road, Whakamarama, on Tuesday afternoon.

A police spokesperson says they received reports of a crash involving a vehicle and child at 3.15pm.

A child was transported to hospital in a serious condition, says police.

A Hato Hone St John spokesperson says they responded with one ambulance, one rapid response vehicle, and one operations manager.

“One patient in serious condition was taken to Tauranga Hospital via ambulance.”
