Tauranga RSA is preparing for a showcase of Anzac quilts to raise funds for the generous quilters who made them.

“It has been suggested by a member that the Tauranga RSA hold a function where the past recipients of an Anzac quilt bring them into the RSA for displaying to other members, thereby showcasing the skill of the quilters and hopefully generating some funds for the quilters,” says Tauranga RSA club president Morton Anderson.

The event will be held in the Jack Hinton Lounge from 1pm-3pm this Saturday, June 22.

Morton says two women, Margaret Morunga and Sheryl Farrow, make all the quilts and 155 have been given to returned servicemen.

The event requires gold coin donations, which will go to the quilters.

“Afternoon tea will be provided by the RSA.”

Morton asks if any member has been presented with a quilt and wishes to participate to “please register your details with the office”.

“Our aim is to have at least 40 Anzac quilts on display.”
