Police are at the scene of a two-vehicle collision on Hewletts Road, Mount Maunganui, Tauranga.

Police arrived on the scene at 2.46 pm. 

A police spokesperson says there have been no injuries reported. 

"A ute rear-ended a car, which then resulted in it being stuck and blocking the lane," says a caller at 0800SUNLIVE.

"There are major traffic delays."

Google Maps is showing heavy congestion in the area, saying that it is "slower than usual with delays of up to 12 minutes."

An NZTA spokesperson says, "Due to a crash, the westbound lane is blocked on State Highway 2 between Mount Maunganui and Tauranga. Pass the scene with care and expect delays."
