Update, 10.18am: NZTA reports that an earlier breakdown on SH2 by Totara St has been cleared.

"Allow extra time for eastbound delays over the Harbour Bridge to ease."

Initial report: Traffic delays are being reported on Hewletts Road in Mount Maunganui.

NZTA reports that due to a breakdown, the right turn from SH2 onto Totara Steet is blocked, causing delays over the Harbour Bridge.

People are being advised to allow extra time in their journey.

Google's live traffic reporting show that traffic is backed up over the bridge through to Takitimu Drive, near the Elizabeth Street roundabout.
