KiwiRail train tracks on Kairua Road are expected to be cleared shortly after someone attempted to drive along the tracks and got stuck.

"Police were notified at 4.55pm that a car had tried driving down some railway tracks on Kairua Road and was stuck on the tracks," says a police spokesperson.

"KiwiRail train control was notified and they closed the track until the car could be moved.  

"As at 5.40pm, a tow truck was there and the track was expected to be clear shortly."
