Two people have been injured following a crash in Tauranga.

Emergency services were called to the two-vehicle crash on Pyes Pa Rd, between Wiliams and Tauamata Rds, just before 9pm on Monday.

People also took to social media saying the crash looked “very bad”.

A Hato Hone St John spokesperson says they received a call at 9pm about an incident in Pyes Pa Road.

"We responded with two ambulances, one rapid response vehicle and an operations manager.

"Two patients were taken to Tauranga hospital, one patient in a serious condition and the other in a moderate condition."

In a statement to SunLive this morning, a police spokesperson says they are investigating the crash.

“The driver of each vehicle has been taken to hospital with moderate to serious injuries.

“Enquiries are continuing.”
