People are being invited to an enchanting concert where whimsy and classical grace collide in Tauranga.

The Opus Orchestra performance, conducted by Vincent Hardaker,  one of New Zealand's most promising up-and-coming conductors and featuring APO principal harpist Ingrid Bauer as our soloist.

This concert promises a thrilling blend of old and new musical masterpieces.

The concert opens with Albert Schnelzer's "A Freak in Burbank," a piece that masterfully combines the quirky charm of Tim Burton with the ingenuity of Haydn, setting the stage for an exhilarating show.

As the concert progresses, the mood softens with Gillian Whitehead's "Karohirohi," one of New Zealand’s rare solo harp concertos.

The title "Karohirohi," meaning iridescent or the sparkling of light on water, perfectly captures the piece's exploration of new and exciting sonorities through the harp.

After intermission, the enchanting sounds of the harp continue with Debussy's "Danses Sacrées et Profanes," leading seamlessly into the rhythmic elegance of Haydn's Symphony No.101, ‘The Clock’.

This symphony, known for its witty timing and masterful composition, is sure to delight audiences with its timeless charm.

Vincent Hardaker.

"The audience will love seeing one of New Zealand's premiere harpists, Ingrid Bauer, play two gorgeous harp concertos alongside Opus Orchestra," says Vincent Hardarker.

"Be ready an energetic, Tim Burton inspired Scandinavian work, and one of my favourite Haydn Symphonies. It will surely be a thrilling blend of old and new."
