Black Stick and Olympian Gemma McCaw is coming home for a night of glitz and glamour to support the Wish4Fish Charity.

People interested in celebrating the achievements of the Wish4Fish charity and helping it launch its Buy the Berth fundraising campaign are invited to head along on Friday, August 9.

The event aims to raise funds that will give the charity the opportunity to secure a long-term licence for a purpose-built marina berth for its big boat, Noah, says founder Bryce Dinneen.

This means galvanising its longevity for the community to benefit for many years to come.

“The Wish4Fish charity has been given a unique opportunity on behalf of Tauranga Bridge Marina Ltd to secure a more suitable and safer marina berth for our organisation to continue to facilitate our beneficiary trips in the future,” says Bryce.

“This opportunity will not only provide a long-term home for Noah, our 18m Roger Hill-designed displacement catamaran, but will also help galvanise Wish4Fish with its sustainability into the future.

“With your support, we can make waves in many lives! Join us and embark on a journey to secure a home for Noah, and to help provide individuals with disabilities the transformative experience of navigating the open seas.”

If you’re into grazing platters, raffles, sweet treats, auctions and entertainment, this is the event for you.

“We have some great items up for auction on the night,” says Bryce.

For $130 a person, this includes grazing platter, followed by an amazing banquet-style dinner with all the trimmings, rounded off with a great selection of sweet treats.

“Ticket price includes a complimentary Wish4Fish Buy the Berth raffle ticket.

“Round tables for 10 people are available at a cost of $1200 per table. The perfect way to host clients, work colleagues, family and friends.

“Entertainment includes food and beverage, guest speakers, cash bar, sponsors grid auction, memorabilia auction, and more as we come together to celebrate the Wish4Fish Charity and its fundraising campaign towards buying a long-term marina berth Licence.

Guest speaker

“We have secured Gemma McCaw as our guest speaker on the night.”

Gemma is an Olympian who grew up in Tauranga and has an amazing connection to the charity because she used to enjoy fishing with her father when she was little, says Bryce.

Gemma will be doing a Q&A session on the night for any guests eager to ask questions.

“I am really looking forward to coming home to Tauranga to share in a special night raising funds for Wish4Fish,” says Gemma.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect with the local community, share stories, and come together for an incredible charity.

“Wish4Fish is dedicated to providing fishing experiences to people with disabilities, serious illnesses, or other life challenges.

“The organisation aims to offer a sense of adventure, joy, and connection to the natural world through the therapeutic benefits of fishing.

“I know it’ll be a great night for everyone involved and to see the smiles on the people’s faces while they’re out fishing really is the best.”

Donations and the 500 Club

The 500 Club is a membership-only club of local businesses that have generously donated $500 annually to become members.

“These donations go towards providing the opportunity for two beneficiaries and their support people with an experience out on the water, thanks to the Noah.

“Join our 500 Club on the night and go into a lucky draw with prizes valued at over $1000 along with receiving complimentary merchandise, ie beanie, bucket hat, wristband and quality filleting knife.

“We are looking for businesses or individuals to sponsor a table on the night at a cost of $500 per table, please call Bryce to discuss becoming a sponsor.

“This will be a great opportunity to support us and showcase your company to our attendees, please call Bryce to discuss this opportunity.

“We at the Wish4Fish Charity are grateful for any support provided as without sponsors like you, our mission would not be possible.”
