Creative Bay of Plenty is calling for artists and visual communicators to participate in the 2024 round of the Chorus Cabinet Art Project.

This paid commission transforms telecommunications cabinets across the region into vibrant works of art.

Participating artists will have the chance to showcase their unique artistic styles and engage with the community through their work.

This project aims to inject life into urban environments, fostering a sense of pride and community spirit, and celebrating our region’s identity.

Artist Millie Pidwell (also known as Murals By Millie) painted a Te Puke cabinet in the 2023 round.

"The Chorus Cabinet Art Project is a fantastic opportunity for local artists to express their creativity on a larger scale," says Millie.

"It's incredibly fun to transform these cabinets into vibrant pieces of art and engage with the community in a meaningful way.

"This project not only beautifies our surroundings but also celebrates the rich artistic talent we have right here in our own backyard."

Artists are invited to contribute to the beautification of Tauranga, Mount Maunganui, Pāpāmoa, Te Puke, Katikati, and Waihī Beach by painting cabinets in these areas.

The theme for this year's project is BOP 2124: Depicting what the Bay might look like in 100 years.

Selected artists will receive compensation for their work.

There are 10 cabinets to be painted across the region. Submissions are open now and close on 3 September 2024.

Don’t miss this chance to make your mark on our city. For more information and to submit your application, visit www.creativebop.org.nz.

Too much 'clutter'

in our eyes these days. The best thing that can be done with Chorus cabinets is to have them come in a very dark olive green so they can be 'lost' from our eyes rather than adding yet MORE clutter.
