Emergency services are responding to a crash involving a truck and a car on State Highway 2, White Pine Bush in Whakatane reported at 8:05am, says a police spokesperson. 

"Three people are reported to be injured, two in a serious condition and one with moderate injuries.

"Traffic management is in place and motorists are being diverted in Awakeri.

"Motorists are advised to expect delays and follow directions for diversions."

NZTA warns drivers to be cautious when driving in the area.

"Reports of a crash on SH2 White Pine Bush Road just north of Pekatahi Bridge," says an NZTA spokesperson.

"Please follow directions of response crews in the area and expect delays."
