A section of State Highway 2 is currently closed following a crash near Te Puna.

Emergency services were called to the two-vehicle crash near Ainsworth Road at 8:15am, said a police spokesperson.

"The road is currently closed."

Hato Hone St John were notified of a motor vehicle incident in Te Puna at 08:15 today, says a Hato Hone St John spokesperson.

"One ambulance has responded.

"The one ambulance who responded to the incident has transported one patient in a moderate condition to Tauranga Hospital."

People are being advised to expect delays in the area.
