Racing Tauranga is gearing up for an exciting summer season, with more than $1.3 million in prize money set to be distributed to horse racing connections over the next four thrilling race meetings.
The action kicks off this Saturday, October 5th, marking the start of a packed racing schedule at Tauranga Racecourse.
The Saturdays Race meeting will see a feature race, the Team Welleans Open handicap over 1600 meters featuring race favourite Mustang Valley, with 2 group one wins under her belt and total prize money so far earned in excess of $850,000.
Allan Sharrock is bringing up the well favoured Ladies Man from the Central districts and the Debbe Sweeney trained Chattahoochee will also be in the mix.
Three local horses will also contend the main race, Enright (Stuart Manning), Electric Time (Lou Te Keeti) and Ruach (Antony Fuller)
The 10 race programme gets underway at 12.10pm and admission is free
Bayleys Community Carnival Raceday – Saturday, November 2
One of the marquee events of the season, the Bayleys Community Carnival Raceday, returns on Saturday, November 2.
In addition to top-tier racing, the day will feature the popular Tauranga Crossing Fashions in the Field competition, where fashion and racing enthusiasts will combine for a spectacle of style.
Christmas at the Races Series
Following the carnival day, the festive season kicks into high gear with two Christmas at the Races events.
- Saturday, November 16: The first event in the series will feature the prestigious $150,000 Group 2 Gartshore Tauranga Stakes, drawing top talent from around the country.
- Friday, December 13: The excitement continues with the Twilight Christmas at the Races meeting, offering a festive evening of racing under the summer sky.
New World Summer Festival – January 2, 2025
After Christmas, the fun continues with the New World Summer Festival on January 2nd.
This event is a favourite for both locals and holiday-makers alike, featuring plenty of fun games and activities for kids, making it the perfect family day out.
For the younger crowd looking for a party atmosphere, the Nations Bar will be on-site in the Summer Vibes area, complete with a DJ to keep the party going all day long.
Each event promises an exhilarating mix of racing, entertainment, and holiday spirit, making Tauranga Racecourse the place to be this summer.
