The Rotorua A&P Show is the “ultimate family outing” according to organisers because of the large range of exhibits on display – and because attendance is free for children under 15 years.
Rotorua A&P Show Secretary, Sarah Morgan, said this year’s show – to be held on Saturday, December 7, at the Agrodome – marks 116 years since the first A&P Show was held in Rotorua.
“We are continuing a wonderful tradition which showcases the best of rural and urban life in New Zealand. Thanks to enduring patronage across the North Island, the Show has continued each year – even during Covid when competitions took place without public attendance.”
Sarah Morgan said this year’s show features a large range of competitions and/or exhibits, the variety of competitions attracting competitors from across the North Island.
Bouncy castles set up for children at the show.
“Sheep shearing and wool handling, wood chopping, vintage tractors and machinery, cattle, dairy goats, alpacas, equestrian events and the King and Queen of the Mountain race provide a vital link to the region’s rural roots complemented by such things as trade sites and food stalls.
“And for the children, we have a balloonist and magician, Sparky the fire engine, Ferris wheels, face painting, plus the opportunity to meet and pet a range of farm animals.”
A full list of what’s on offer is available on the Rotorua A&P Show website (www.rotoruashow.co.nz).
Gates open at 8.30am and entry is free for children under 15 and $20 per person for people over 15.
