Emergency services responded to two vehicle crashes on State Highway 2 in the western Bay of Plenty on Saturday night.

At around 5.50pm Police were called to a single vehicle crash on SH2 near Munro Road, Whakamarama.

"The road was closed for a short time," said a police spokesperon.

"One person was transported to hospital for assessment."

About two hours later in Pukehina, a two-vehicle crash on SH2 near Pukehina Beach Road was reported to Police around 7.15pm.

"The road was partially blocked for a short time," said a police spokesperson.

Police said an ambulance was called to the scene. At this stage it is unknown if there were any injuries.
